In Vitória we are the surveyors to several Classification
Societies, we also act on behalf of P&I Clubs, and
Underwriters. Besides these important institutions, we
have carried out several other independent surveys on
behalf of many Owners, Charterers and Agencies, and acted
as Supercargo for Exporters/Importers. All these connected
activities, gave us a solid technical and practical basis,
allowing us a general and particular view on vessels'
problems and requirements.
Our
background experience with our usual clients can be
synthesized as follows:
|
· Classification Societies:
Since 1983 we are the non-exclusive
surveyors and the Station Office in Vitória to
Germanischer Lloyd-GL. Then, on 1986 we became also the
non-exclusive surveyors to Lloyd's Register of Shipping-LR.
We eventually work on behalf of Det Norske Veritas-DNV
and on behalf of Registro Italiano Navale - RINa.
During
this long experience, as class surveyors, we have accomplished
numerous surveys on ship's hull and machinery, in respect
to damages and to continuous and periodic maintenance,
as well as to statutory and safety activities.
|
· P&I Clubs:
Appointed by their local Correspondents
or direct by the P&I Clubs we have opportunity to
work to almost all clubs attending them in normal activities
such as pre-loading/loading cargo condition surveys,
mainly for steel products and cargo stowage/securing surveys,
as well as in more complicated attendances, such as cargo
damage, contamination and collapse surveys.
In addition to cargo surveys we have also had large
scale participation in vessel's casualties for P&I
Clubs, including collision damages to other ships, quays,
bridges, cranes, etc. We have investigated a number of
ship incidents and conducted navigational analysis, following
collisions and groundings. |
· Underwriters:
We also acted on behalf of Lloyd's
of London, The
Salvage Association NY and the German Underwriters
(Verein Hambuger Assecuradeure and Verein Bremer Seeversicherer)
for machinery and hull casualties, including surveys on
heavy damaged engines, boilers etc., as well as heavy
damages to vessel's platings and structures due to several
types of casualties. We are aware about the recent care
with bulk carriers and their structural problems. |
· Shipbrokers:
We are skilled pre-purchase/vessel
condition surveyors. Our work is very professional, complete
and full illustrated with photos, giving to our clients
(usually Shipbrokers based in Europe and/or worldwide
ship-owners) a detailed and no-doubt survey report, essential
to their decision on buying and on ships evaluation. We
have surveyed ships in all Brazilian ports, as well as
in South American and Caribbean countries. |
· Exporters/Importers (Supercargo):
Our accomplishment also includes
Supercargo
attendances for Exporters and Importers. We have been
involved as the responsible for several difficult stowages,
including diverse steel products for a complicated discharge
rotation of various ports. We are also specialists in
vertical upright stow of steel slabs and other steel products,
which requires a very special care during the stowage
and lashing. |
·
Owners and Charterers:
We
have carried out several other independent surveys on
behalf of many Owners, Charterers and Agencies, such as
on/off hires, bunkers, drafts, vehicle discharges. Routine
cargo out-turn and container surveys provide a significant
input to our business. Repair management, repair cost
analysis, structural survey, speed / consumption
analysis, sale and purchase surveys is also included in
our range of services. |
· Judicial Surveys:
The activities of our independent
survey company
span a range of maritime judicial assistance and
expertise provided in maritime litigation cases. We
have attended as Judicial Expert acting on behalf of
the Court of Vitória. Our surveyors are also often
appointed as Technical Assistants. Part of our business
is derived from providing expert assistance to Marine
Solicitors and Counsel. Topics covered, including port
analysis, ship performance, cargo contamination, machinery
failure, stowage and salvage. |
